This 300 hour, Yoga Alliance-approved intensive is designed to provide the Sādhaka (seeker or aspirant) with an in-depth, practical, knowledge of the seven primary chakras of the body: Muladhara (Root), Svadhishtana (sacral), Manipura (solar plexus), Anahata (heart), Vishuddha (throat), Ajna (third eye), Bindu (crown). Students will learn to awaken the Kundalini (primal energy or Shakti) and guide it to or through each Chakra to provide physical, mental, and spiritual healing, strength, and balance. In-depth review of anatomy and physiology is complemented by study and practice of nourishment through Yin and Yang asana, Pranayama (breathing), meditation, and dietary and lifestyle practices. Students will be prepared to assess needs and instructed on sharing and applying practices within a practical teaching environment.
Course lecture and practicum follow the guidelines of Swami Saraswati of the Bihar School of Yoga (Munger, India) and the Kundalini Tantra method of awakening the chakras. Physical practice of traditional Hatha, Kundalini, and Yin (from the teachings of Paul Grilley, Bernie Clark and Susan Powers) asana will be explored from an intermediate to advanced level – beyond that presented in a 200 RYS program. Similarly, intensive exploration of breath control through ancient Pranayama and Kriya practices in conjunction with advancement of mantra, trataka, Nada, Japa, and Njana meditation methods are addressed. Throughout the program, students will learn and apply Shatkarmas (bodily purification) practice as well as dietary/culinary theory, preparation, and application. Upon completion of this intensive, students will be equipped to practically interweave knowledge and practice in these areas to cleanse, balance, and energize the body through the seven primary chakras.
The 300 RYT: Awakening and Balancing the Chakras curriculum is presented in seven Friday – Sunday classroom modules (one per month) January through July. Self-guided hours of application, asana practice, and homework assignments are also required to achieve course completion and assessment for certification.
